About Prepper Radio Canada

Prepper Radio Canada was created to help preparedness-minded Canadians develop dependable, legal and practical radio communication skills.

Modern communications are remarkably capable, but most depend on infrastructure outside the user’s control. Cellular towers, internet connections, commercial networks and electrical systems can all become unavailable or overloaded. Amateur radio provides another layer of capability—but only when operators understand their equipment, hold the appropriate qualifications and practise before communication becomes critical.

Our flagship Canadian Basic Amateur Radio Course prepares students for the ISED Basic Qualification examination while connecting examination subjects to real preparedness applications. Regulations, radio theory, antennas, propagation, station safety and operating procedures are taught as parts of a complete communications system rather than isolated facts to memorize.

More Than Examination Preparation

Passing the examination is an important milestone, but it is not the final objective.

Prepper Radio Canada emphasizes the knowledge required to:

  • Select appropriate equipment
  • Establish local and regional communications
  • Understand the limitations of handheld radios
  • Use repeaters while maintaining simplex alternatives
  • Build effective antenna and power systems
  • Operate safely and legally
  • Develop communication schedules and procedures
  • Test complete communication plans under realistic conditions

About the Instructor

Prepper Radio Canada is developed by Dean Nobes, owner and operator of the Canadian Preppers Network and organizer of Preppers Meet.

Dean has worked in Canadian preparedness education and publishing since 2008. His experience includes emergency communications, amateur radio, practical preparedness training, event organization and the development of self-reliance resources for Canadian audiences.

The course combines official Canadian examination requirements with plain-language instruction and preparedness applications.

Important Qualification Notice

Prepper Radio Canada is an independent training provider. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
